I experienced the same tension and longing for something more. While on the World Race, I began to discover more of God’s calling on my life. Today, I have the honor of leading World Race: Gap Year along with my incredible team. Over the past few years, we have led hundreds through this transformational journey to discover what it means to live a life of adventure, meaning, and purpose with God.

South Africa

LOCATION: Johannesburg, South Africa

MINISTRY: Serve alongside local ministry partners in Johannesburg.

FOCUS: Community Development, Education, and Evangelism

Life on the Race

Our local ministry partners provide Gospel-centered community development and education to under-resourced communities. You will be trained and activated by local leaders as you go out to do community projects and evangelism. You might also build relationships with local students while you teach them about the love of Jesus. While many come to South Africa for the adventure, you’ll walk away with a rich appreciation for this country’s diversity and sense of community.


LOCATION: Granada, Nicaragua

MINISTRY: Transform a community through ministry with REAP Granada

FOCUS: Prayer Walking, Agriculture, Sports Ministry, Evangelism

Meet Scott and Jennifer Esposito at REAP Granada!

Build meaningful relationships, share the Gospel, and do prayer-walks near our ministry base, REAP Granada. You may play soccer or kickball during sports ministry on REAP’s campus or help with some of the agricultural projects on their sustainable farm. Show the love of God to the vibrant nation of Nicaragua who is on the brink of a spiritual revival.

Meet Scott and Jennifer Esposito at REAP Granada!

REAP Granada, led by Scott and Jennifer Esposito, is devoted to some of the more economically challenged neighborhoods in Granada, Nicaragua. They use several powerful ministries, called touchpoints, to build valuable relationships. With multiple touches, in key areas, they live together with the locals and demonstrate God's love in real relationships. These relationships cultivate a strong, sustainable community, by integrating faith into every aspect of life, while strengthening families and developing employment skills.


LOCATION: Quito, Ecuador

MINISTRY: Share the Gospel alongside our Inca Link Ecuador partners.

FOCUS: Youth Ministry, Feeding Program, Teaching English, Evangelism

Meet Fabi and Mabe from Inca Link

During your three months in Ecuador, you will live in the capital city Quito. Serve with our ministry partner Inca Link, who is making an impact for God’s kingdom through a network of ministries around the city. One of these ministries is providing a safe house for rescued victims of trafficking, while another is hosting a feeding program that serves Venezuelan refugees. Your team could be serving at a home for adults with special needs, or teaching English at a local high school and sharing the Gospel. No matter what you do, your time in Ecuador will be a high point of your journey.

Meet Fabi and Mabe from Inca Link!

Everyone who comes to Quito, Ecuador and spends a night at Casa Blanca is impacted by Fabi and Mabe for their generous hospitality and how they demonstrate Christ’s love. Fabi’s favorite part of his job is when people feel at home, can hear God speak, and share how God is changing their lives in Ecuador. Both he and Mabe have a goal to make teams feel like Casa Blanca is their home away from home!


LOCATION: Lima, Peru


FOCUS: Evangelism, Teaching English, Community Outreach, Special Needs Ministry


Your next stop on your journey will be Peru’s capital, Lima, where you will serve with our ministry partner YWAM Lima as they reach the city. Join them as they serve adults with special needs, support local churches, and share the Gospel with university students. You might help with an English class or preach in a local church, surrounded by the busy pace of city life, or you may visit a more remote congregation to encourage them in their faith. You may get to serve at a local home for children with special needs.

To end your time in Peru, you will visit the amazing Machu Picchu, an incredible temple ruin left behind by an ancient empire. As you end your World Race: Gap Year journey, enjoy seeing one of the wonders of the world.

Watch God’s heart for redemption burst forth as you serve alongside trusted ministry partners in South Africa, Central America, and South America. If you desire to do relational ministry, this route is for you!


Step 1: Apply

You’ll create a profile and complete a questionnaire application and then schedule a phone interview with our team so we can get to know you better. After that, we’ll let you know when you’ve been accepted! (A $200 deposit will confirm your spot.)

Step 2: Fundraise

Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with an Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.

Step 3: Train

Four-six weeks before your Race begins, you will spend 10 days at our campus in Georgia. This time will include missional and cultural training, discipleship, worship, and bonding with your teammates before you leave.

Step 4: Launch

After several days of additional training in Atlanta, you will fly out together as a squad and begin your ministry on the World Race.

How We Support You



A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow Racers will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.



Six to eight weeks before your launch date, you’ll attend a 10-day intensive training at our headquarters here in North Georgia.



You’ll get to experience raw Christian community as you travel, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join the Race, you will be invited to a private Facebook group to begin getting to know your squad.



We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
